This is not the right time at all for MS to push the issue. With the global
economic crisis especially, MS will not be able to get blood out of a turnip. This will just cause negative nation-wide publicity in China, and you can bet at the same time, there will be a lot of publicity about the alternatives to Microsoft in relation to this. There are still lots of Chinese that do not know what Linux and OpenOffice is, and MS had better be careful how they facilitate the awareness.

But, this is probably more of a ploy to nudge more businesses into buying a license. I imagine that the pirates already have a fix for this. MS would not be so stupid as disable Windows for millions that can not afford a license, and thus cause mass migrations to Linux and OpenOffice in China.
