Reinventing the wheel
It's been done albeit not quite $200 but the technology has been here--The Nokia N800/810. I've got an 800. The 800 shares the same multi-core TI ARM processor as the 810, except the 810 has a slide out keyboard. You can either use the stylus or your fingers on the tablet's surface.

The browser is Mozilla-based using the same core engine as Firefox 3.0. Most nice because it has full support for AJAX (edit create documents with Google Docs), Flash, and runs MPlayer. It doesn't break a sweat handling 25 frame/sec MP4 movies and supports Mini high-capacity SD up to 8GB (internal slot and one external).

Great for when you don't want to trundle a notebook/laptop along on a trip and it tethers via bluetooth nicely to my Nokia N95 and bluetooth Nokia keyboard.

OS 2008 is Debian Linux and the Maemo GUI is Gtk-based. It runs Skype, you don't need to jailbreak it and it's 'open source'.

Just out of curiosity, I checked on Amazon to see the pricing

It's a great device to have if your budget allows.

Nokia. Been there. Done that. wink
