Hmm yeah, maybe
Unless they have zero credit, I'm not sure about their sinking without a trace. Operations like this have little to no overhead. I believe Psystar's problems is nothing a basic business plan and minimum preparation could of cured, which of course makes you absolutely right about one thing, they are indeed amateurs.
