RE: You think you're a "victim"?
I also had a Dell Dimension E520. But of course, it had only those extra resources I was willing to pay extra for. I doubt that buying an off-the-shelf Dell Dimension E520 would give you a gonzo Alien game machine instead.

You get what you pay for, friend...
If you want to pay for a business-class machine, that is what you will get from Dell.

Anyway, we all must live according to our consciences, I suppose. Makes it easier to go before a judge if necessary.

But I have not said "Lay down and accept this OS AS IS..." (which you apparently have understood my words to mean).

Each of us should know what we purchase before we purchase it, don't you think? How can we pay for a Ford, and expect a Cadillac to come off the assembly line? Get the gist yet? I certainly hope so, because I'm starting to run out of folksy-sounding aphorisms.

IF you believe Windows Vista is "an abomination of an OS", don't use it. Many, many others happen to disagree with your sentiments. Do they care one whit whether you like their OS or not? (That was a rhetorical question, by the way...)

Your opinion is a minority one, whether you like it or not. They will still submit their reports in Word format, their spreadsheets in Excel format, and their presentations in Power Point format; and their software products will continue to be written using Microsoft Visual C++ and C# for DOTNET, and soon, Silverlight for Web graphics.
