I don't think you quite get it
Good article about "what happens to AMD, NVidia, etc if this acquisition..." but, seriously, questioning the direction of physics and dependency on Microsoft to make it happen? This tells me you don;t quite the significance of physics in gaming.

I'll boil it down for you. Physics is about realism and realism is what everyone wants . If you can think of a way to emulate realism in gaming and natural response w/o incorporating physics algorithms, you could be a billionaire. It's not a question IF physics will be incorporated in gaming and never mind Microsoft, they are yesterday's technology leader.
