Not so good!
My experience with Ubuntu 7.10 has not been as good as the earlier versions. It failed to load the GUI on my old AMD 2200/512 MB RAM/nForce chipset motherboard/15" Samtron 55v Monitor based machine. It was due to the wrong horsync and vertrefresh values for the monitor in the xorg.conf file. All the earlier version did not have this problem.

On trying it with a Toshiba Satellite A40 laptop it works but with no boot-splash screen and the virtual terminals ctrl+alt+f... were either blank or of such low resolution it was unusable. It also seemed to freeze when I switched back to the GUI.
Similar behaviour on another laptop running more up-to date hardware. The GUI would not load.
As far as I am concerned these are show stopper issues.
For the time I am sticking with Feisty and other GNU/Linux distros (I have the choice!).
By the way I've been mainly running with GNU/Linux since 2000.
