RE: Stealth Update ... take 2! (Microsoft Stealth Update and Windows XP rep
My computer, which had been running fine, started acting buggy not that long ago... It would slow down to a crawl and after awhile of running very slow, it eventually would lock up. This came about even though I had added no new software to it. The only thing I had been doing of late is web surfing, sending/receiving email, and using Microsoft Office to generate correspondence.

I tried to repair Windows using the System Recovery tool and now the computer is stuck in a continual reboot cycle. Even after an attempt to reinstall Windows to repair the damage, the system still continues to reboot spontaneously just before Windows is completely loaded.

My only course of action now is to do a clean install and reinstall every application some of which I bought but can't find the CD's to. UGH! THANKS MICROSOFT! Isn't it great when the unsuspecting user community helps debug your software for you. I wouldn't be so upset if I was warned that this was an untested update and the choice of whether or not to install it was left up to me. Then I could blame myself for taking the risk of installing the software... I've no idea what Microsoft installed that broke my system and that concerns me. If Microsoft can do this despite all the software I have in place to supposedly prevent this from happening, what can others put on my system without my knowledge? I certainly don't appreciate this "feature" of the Windows OS and I REALLY DON'T APPRECIATE IT BEING DONE WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
