Kubuntu 7.04 (Kubuntu 7.04)
One thing that confuses Windows users, including me, are all of the names for programs in Linux. The program names very seldom tell you what the programs actually do. What is KDE and how will the average MS Windows users know what it is? Linux is like learning a new language. Maybe they need to have in Parenthases what they do or be stored in folders by category or something like that.

So you go to select what programs to install and the user does not even know what they are looking at. So in the initial install just dont offer a choice. Have a default and install the default.

Then there is the hassle of installing a program. Will you have to download it? What file/folder/directory does it go in? Will you have to compile it or make it? What if you need other packages to make what you are installing work? Try upgrading Linux to the next version of netscape or mozzilla or whatever. The install process needs to be streamlined and simplified.

What happens if your video card is not found and an incorrect driver is loaded and then you cant figure out how to get something compatable and all you have is some text based command line? This kind of thing is the worst nightmare of a first time user. Something does not work and you are presented with the command line interface. Is there like a safe-mode to go into with an emergency GUI?
