I am sure there is an on-line solution for Ubuntu/Kubuntu--here's what I did to get that anti-aliased TrueType Tahoma font kinda thing going!:

And, adding new themes (skins to the Windows Folks) to KDE doesn't require at lot of effort--I have stayed with the stock 'Plastik' theme.
