RE: Nokia kicks off strategy to focus more attention on the U.S. wireless m
Hi, Matt

Thanks much for raising the issue of Nokia's US service problems. I'm one of the people whose N95-3 got bricked by a firmware update -- just 3 days after I bought it, but enough time for me to fall in love with it. It's a fabulous device, suitable for pro-quality mobile reporting or moblogging.

But under Nokia's US warranty, all repairs/replacements must be handled by shipping your phone back to Nokia and then waiting a month. (Although some N-Series US users have told me they've waited longer to get their phones returned.) For a premium-priced product like this, that's simply foisting too much risk onto the consumer, IMHO.

Anyway, thanks for raising this issue. I and the other bloggers who have been asking Nokia for progress on this are still waiting for a clear answer. And while it's great that Nokia's Charlie Schick has engaged sympathetically here with you (as he did with me earlier on my blog Contentious.com), so far we're all still waiting for a clear answer on what, if anything, Nokia can or will do to fix this problem.

Thanks,

- Amy Gahran
