A better mobile application being developed to scan all types of bar codes is being developed by MC2, which Nokia is a part of. A universal reader for these codes are being developed around a mobile platform named qode.
Best of all, NO TYPING.
qode, developed by Neomedia Technologies, is a mobile platform that allows the web user/consumer, in one click, navigate the mobile web. One click on the 1D, 2D, QR, data matrix, slogan, keyword, RFID, trademark, logo, billboard, UPC, etc., adnd receive instant information about that particular product clicked on. Thus, turning on the internet of things.
Who is helping the MC2? HP, Publicis, Active Print and others.
This application was once refered to as the next 'killer app' and the 'next Google'.
It is a brands dream to reach the consumer? Direct to content. What happens when you will be able to say the word instead of typing and have instant information?
For your readers, Scanbuy is in current litigation with Neomedia Technologies. Neomedia Technologies was the only bar code scanning company at the CTIA show in March 07.
