Fear of brand
Google do not buy it. Your analysis as usual very impressive, I think, you?ve missed one important point - FEAR
Google was afraid of YouTube and DoubleClick, if anyone went to Y / MS?s hand that would have challenged Google. Photobucket is really making any fear? No. Secondly Google don?t want to create more brands, they like to have single brand (Google) and that is acting as a gateway to all child-brands. All Google?s concentration is now into Google apps.

Eric Schmidt, are you listening?
