Real question
The question is: How can YouTube filter infringing videos
without knowing what to look for in them?
Does Viacom expect a bazillion Google-YouTube employees to
constantly view every video? I certainly don't think so.
Does Viacom know of a way to filter out infringing videos? One
thing to remember is that there is no flag in user submitted
content that says, "Hey, this video is infringes copyright".
Saying they can filter pornography is not an answer. There are
certain things that all pornographic videos share. As far as
copyright infringing videos go, that is not the case. There is no way for a computer to tell if it is infringing...

UNLESS...

YouTube and Viacom do some sort of collaboration. Viacom can
share its video library with YouTube. Then YouTube's software
can have something to check new videos against.
Now I get off the soapbox
