It would make it easier, certainly.

Maybe it's just me...I already use DHTML and AJAX to optimize my screen real-estate even in regularly-sized browser windows, so doing similar things on the "iDevices" (I hate writing "iPhone/iPod" all the time) isn't that big a deal.

And some of the tools/techniques we web developers have come to use and rely on over the past few years aren't available to us: there's no such thing as "hover" on a touchscreen, nor is there the idea of "clicking and dragging" (since dragging is used for moving the screen itself). So while the iDevices give us a fairly standard browser, with the ability to do CSS and JavaScript, it does take away some of our options without giving that much back.

Now if the iPhone 3G web browser could make the GPS data from the iPhone available via JavaScript to a web app running in the browser, that would be cool.
