Can Google make money?
Both Microsoft and Adobe are relying primarily on selling products. Google is selling advertising and scondarily subscriptions without ads (Premiere, $50 per user/year).

If Google does not obtain a profitable response for advertisers on word processing documents and spreadsheets, advertising will decline. A lot of subscriptions would have to be sold to rpoduce substantial revenues in the context of the advertising business.

And then there's the problem of directed advertisements to someone working on a spreadsheet filled with confidential material. The day someone receives an ad for a bankruptcy attorney while doing a financial statement will not be a good day for Google.

People have hobbies. Companies are supposed to make profits, and Google's approach appears the least promising.
