Hey Ryan,

Great insight as always. I use Meebo all the time, as Adobe IT blocks most IM protocols. Also, for whatever reason, most of my friends seem to use AIM, and most of my co-workers use YIM. Having cross-IM support is really important to me.

One of the things you point out is that now Yahoo! can easily offer a desktop client on multiple platforms - due in large part to Apollo. To be fair, the folks from Meebo do that on the web already. Now they could also take it to the desktop with Apollo (as I dream about system tray notification).

I ran across http://www.imo.im today as well, which like Meebo, is based on Ajax. It too could now also run on the desktop, with desktop features, across platforms, leveraging the same code base. I've also been watching the guys over at Mingle (http://www.getmingle.com).

I think the IM space is going to get very interesting in the near future.

Isn't Apollo grand!
Kevin
