Philo: Another Adobe App That Doesn't Fit Adobe
What on Earth is Adobe accomplishing here? Proof-of-concept? With Flash?

It seems that Adobe's Philo is Adobe putting big effort (seemingly much more than is being put into Digital Editions) into an application that is not a development application, but rather a product of one, to show what the dev app (Adobe Flash) can do.

What I can't understand is why Adobe is putting its developers and coders into this project. While I understand the need for proof-of-concepts, it seems unneccesary here- Flash is a time-proven format. Is Adobe really going to return a bigger investment for making a cute functional program with it, rather than spending the time and money into improving their development apps? After all, I would think that Adobe wants to beef up their real money-makers - their corral of triple-digit price applications. Which would they rather tell their coders to do- "Write a cute application that does something fun with internet video" or "Make a killer feature for the new version of Adobe ______"? I see something neat with the first statement, but big stacks of bills on the second statement.
So- what's the purpose of Philo, really?
