current browser's are the problem...
Web-browsers were designed by Tim Berners-Lee for the presentation and browsing of pages of text, not as a universal client for the delivery of rich applications. Consequently for years we've bolted-on languages and new-features to get the browser to cope with new things, only to find these are not implemented the same (if at all) across all browsers or for them to be misused and consequently abandoned (eg pop-ups).
Attempts have been made to 'beef-up' the browser, but these have generally failed, the most spectacular being Mozilla's.
Surely the adoption of a rich-client, such as the open-source Eclipse Rich Client Platform, as the 'new standard browser' is what we need to break-free from the ramshackle legacy and move to Web 2.0 and Web 3.0??
