- I love the Home Server concept / specs
-
The idea is that Home Server can act as the cloud for you in your own home giving you access to data wherever you are and storing it locally on your home server. This has some pretty neat implications for media and for companies looking to take advantage of Microsoft technologies to build rich media applications.
That is such a great, great, great feature! What would also be great is if third parties could create services around home servers - from email, to photo viewing, to blogging. This would allow e.g. bloggers to keep all their blog data on their home servers, while third parties could merely expose the data, and provide user experiences for blog readers. Also, additional services could be created wherein data on home servers are auto encrypted, and then stored on remote servers for backup. I believe the above would allay a lot of privacy concerns, and would make the whole cloud concept take off more rapidly. - Posted by: P.
