Adobe should remember
Two, they see Microsoft losing interest in this particular battle, which I don't buy. While Adobe may have everything to gain with nothing to lose, if you awaken the sleeping dragon that is Microsoft, it's a very different playing field.

Adobe should keep in mind that Microsoft spent several billion dollars to eliminate Netscape. No direct bottom-line return, except that MS saw netscape as a long-term strategic threat to their monopoly.

Similarly, although it would potentially cost Microsoft over the next few years, they certainly have the resources to "cut off [Adobe's] air supply" by doing a direct reverse-engineering of all of Adobe's revenue-generating products, then bundling them into MSWindows or MSOffice.

In the extreme off-chance that the DOJ bothers to notice, Adobe's corpse would be long cold before anything was done about it.
