- NC game was uglier than most of the people knew
-
I recall the 1st time when Oracle tried to get to HW area. Oracle was collaborating with DEC for the HW of NC and there was a major trade show where so called DEC Shark NC was supposed to be introduced. Night before the trade show opened, Robert Palmer, CEO of DEC, informed the team that no NC hardware under DEC logo may not be shown in that trade show.
That was a scary situation, but luckily the team had balls enough to be "creative" and the DEC Shark logos were "ripped off" from the boxes and the trade show opened with "nameless" NC's...
The dust from that action didn't settle in any time soon... There's an article from 1998 about the "end game":

Friend of mine followed the game from a very short distance, and some of the details have never surfaced...
This time it's unlikely that Oracle's connection to HW will cause similar series of events. - Posted by: JariPT Posted on: 09/26/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
