- RE: My 15 minutes with Bill Gates, and how the Web was born
-
Yeah - Bill Gates saw the future of the multimedia PC alright - and he was terrified of it! Knowing what he had to work with, and seeing the Amiga computer already doing desktop video and audio - and truly multitasking in 4096 colours (remember when this was - in graphic 'mode' the PC had only 4, and you couldn't choose them!) -- he then bent his best efforts at undermining the Amiga as a 'serious' computer. Also - as the article notes, at the same time he was 'blue-skying' the multimedia PC of the future.
I think it was about 2001 that PC's first approached the multimedia levels of the 1985 Amiga (though still slow graphically) and it has taken a revolution in add-on hardware to get where we are today. But - please don't try to pass BG off as some kind of visionary! An amazing man, incredible marketer (using both clean and dirty tactics) but NEVER a visionary... - Posted by: Freebird54 Posted on: 07/01/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
