- No Web without Multimedia PCS
- I think fr0thy2's and winski's points are well take insofar as Gates did not anticipate the Web as it is current construed, and probably did a lot to obstruct the parts of its success that directly threatened MSFT. But without a multimedia PC, none of this would have been possible. And without MSFT's support -- some would call it bullying -- to create a multimedia PC standard, the lack of a standard would have delayed the uptake of the Web.
