Absolutely Ridiculous - A1S = Way2Late
This advertisement for SAP is ridiculous in its lack of objectivity. Even people inside of SAP are not this bullish (i.e. are more balanced in their analysis) How many years has A1s been under development, like 6? So 6 years ago they began to architect the solution that was going to rock the industry in 2008? In addition, if A1s is that great will it replace mySAP, will customers have to pay for upgrades, will they put up with either? Business turmoil will be a major side affect of A1s.
No doubt, A1s will have its excellent innovations, but they will quickly lose those as they pretend on-demand is just a delivery model and gate the progress of their SaaS offering by trying to manage through the on-premise ugliness.

To really compare to Salesforce's announcement (a platform) you would also have to look at Netweaver (SAP's platform). How well has that done for them? How many customers use Netweaver for non SAP activity? With Shai's departure that part of their business is likely to get even less attention.

SAP has some great core strengths: install base, world class sales team, executive customer relationships etc. New product innovation has not typically been one of them (biggest products since ERP is?). A1s will make a splash, but no one will mistake it for the next R3.
