I still use FORTRAN
in my own and licensed apps. Almost all of the software used to design, synthesize and analyze optical systems is written in FORTRAN. Nowadays, they have nice C/C++ GUIs wrapped around them, but under the hood, it's still FORTRAN.

Ya gotta love a language where complex number representation is a primitive data type.
