Agreed, with one minor point difference . . .
I believe that the reason you're seeing what you are in China is that since most Windows installations are pirated copies, they get no support. And if you're going to have no support, might as well get an OS that doesn't need that much support in the first place . . .

You also don't have a large market that has used nothing but Windows and doesn't have a very large base of software that requires Windows that they RELY on . . . Once again, OSS (or FOSS) stands a better chance of winning out.

With Windows putting in better anti-piracy methods, I think you're going to see a large move to Linux in places like China (then again, you could see the Government over there actually support pirating Windows . . . wink ).
