I think it will be either too far or not enough...
...and they'll miss the happy medium. I think teaching how children how you use Social Media at Primary level will be a good thing, but only if the teachers accept it and teach it well.

A friend of mine is a Primary School teacher, and although I got him on Twitter he used it for about 2 weeks and gave up. I think the Teachers will have a much harder time accepting and teaching this than the children!

As you said they will have to teach using Wikipedia as a starting point for research (I don't remember doing much research at that level) and not just copying and pasting from it, with out checking its validity.

It's going to be very interesting to see what happens, as my friend can tell me from a teachers point of view, and I can see how my Niece, who is about to start Primary, reacts to it.
