Could it be that puritanical American society is becoming closer to European society? Every new generation seems to be less conservative and more willing to explore/experiment. The "free love" of the 1960's is a good example of this behavior.

Kids today are realizing just how backward society is when it comes to nudity. The subjective pornography definition of "I know it when I see it", just won't cut it anymore. They are doing non-violent protests by testing the bounds of the law.

It used to be, not so long ago - that a man could be acquitted of r@pe because the woman wore "provocative clothing". The outcry of the public stopped that stuff - because it doesn't matter what the woman does or wears, r@pe is r@pe period.

If you follow that line of reasoning to its logical "end", you must conclude that even nudity itself is NOT a trigger for r@pe. Nudists here in the US (following in the footsteps of Europeans) have known this for years and have advocated less restrictive laws. Pornography laws are just too subjective - but the consequences of breaking them are dire.

I continue to promote my own changes to the law - so as to make this objective instead of subjective. My premise is simple - If it's illegal to do, then it is illegal to have a "reproduction" of it. IOW, if you have in your possession a video of a beating, r@pe, or any kind of criminal conduct you are considered either 1) a witness to the crime or 2) an accomplice. Witnesses have first hand knowledge of the crime and are required to testify against the perpetrator. All others fall into category 2 - and the penalties should be severe.

But when it comes to sexting - where everything is voluntary and no crime was committed, it just don't fit the definition - so it would be "legal".
