Why?
Sorry guys, but sending kids home with school-issued laptops is just *ASKING* for trouble. Seriously, do you guys not have enough headaches? Between supporting software issues (patches, viruses, and updates w/o losing kids' work), filtering internet, kids doing anything-but-work on them, and replacing defective hardware, I see no benefit whatsoever to letting kids take the laptops home with them over having them all sign up for Windows Live Skydrive or something similar and letting them store everything there so they can access it at home or at the public library. Problem solved. Either that, or somehow get the administration to earmark them on the contingency budget. IMO I think they will cause more problems for everyone than they will solve.
