I don't think so
Trying to understand why a lecturer would want to use it. Also "Facebook" is proprietary, so I would want a system totally under the control of the University, rather than farmed out to a third-party.
Students can sometimes say things that may be misinterpreted by the authorities (they are still young), and I wouldn't want messages to be sent via the snoops in Washington.
