Wolfram|Alpha allows you to move away from the user-generated-information web paradigm when it's most useful to do so. It's an "answer engine," which operates on the concept of emergent intelligence from simple rules overlaid on many different bits of information (the emergent intelligence is the "right" answer, of course).
