What near sighted statements
Those are statements of someone who fears someone is going to take their job. Why shouldn't you teach someone how to use Word or how to use a resource that will help them teach the students better. They have to be able to use the technology to teach, they should know how to use it.

They don't have to know how to fix it, just use it. Your analogies are apples to oranges. I want to drive the car, but I don't expect someone to put the gas in it and pay for it themselves. I love beef, but I go to the store, not someone else. I put it in my fridge and cook it, not someone else. I learned how to do all that because they are tools or means to an end. The same goes for technology, it's a means to an end.
