- Netbook security risks?
-
Having linux on the netbook is an automatic security risk. Linux lacks any central management (as you stated), but in its very design lacks security. It leaves the telnet port open. Its required to check the installed application version for each package - remember there are over 500 of them installed - then download the source code for them, extract it, guess at which commands and switches are will finally get it to compile cleanly, then let it install in some random directory so that any hacker/cracker could find it, then run the app and hope it doesn't segfault or kernel panic.
Its best to just stick with OS's that are regularly maintained and updated and does not have the black eye security record that linux has. - Posted by: Loverock Davidson Posted on: 01/02/09 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
