- Still wrong about everything ...

No, you have to hold it with one hand and zoom with the other... hence you need 2 hands ... Even better is the HTC Touch Diamond's solution which has a scroll wheel that gives you the best of all worlds: intuitive, granular, and can be done one handed.
I didn't realize having to hold the phone was a design flaw. Good thing I have two hands. Phew!
Seriously, this is an issue? When are you using this feature that this is a problem?
You're right. A scroll wheel is much more intuitive than that concept of "what is now this small, make this big" that multi-touch creates. At this point in human evolution, the desire to use a scroll wheel is practically written into our DNA.
Wow, I must have some pretty special hands then because I can scroll with the trackpad without expending massive amounts of energy to move my hand! Maybe I'm just more fit than you are? Or maybe you are lying?
Maybe you're lying. If your hand is over the center of the trackpad, you have to either shift your hand to the right to use the right-most part of trackpad or awkwardly bend your hand or finger. Either way, you're using the trackpad as an extension of the scrollbar interface, which is stupid and primitive.
Additionally, none of the touchpad space is wasted with a stupid, unnecessary dedicated "scroll pad".
My early experiences with these abominations dedicated touchpad space to the scroll bar feature. If designers have updated the functionality, I guess kudos to them. They have managed to polish a turd.
Functionally, the two-finger-touch scroll closely mimics sliding a piece of paper around on a tabletop, rather than manipulating a computer control (i.e., the scrollbar). It is much more natural and intuitive.
Cool! Name them. I'm willing to have my mind changed but you'll have to do better than: Trust me, it's cool even though I can't give you any examples.
Because you're such a swell guy (nah, because you're so obnoxious and wrong) here are a few that I use that I can name off the top of my head:
PocketGuitar
MotoChaser
CrashKart
Trace
Topple
Before you go off on the inevitable and predictable "five apps that's it" rant, this is an incomplete list to be sure, and I expect that list of apps, and the application of multi-touch will only get more interesting and varied. - Posted by: dkawalec Posted on: 11/07/08 (Edited: 11/07/2008 @ 07:00) You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
