I do think you have it wrong.
I work with technology everyday, and spend countless hours in front of screens every day. I am choosing to send my son to a school that doesn't use technology.

You are right that children do learn languages easier than adults, but the prime time is before they even start school. From birth to 5. That's when their brain gets wired with all of the connections for how it deals with languages. If you can bring your child up bi-lingual, then you are accomplishing far more for their ability to learn a programming language then letting them play with logo at age 8.

My son WANTS to learn how to use the computers in our house. He's absolutely fascinated by them. I have no fear that he will learn all of this. He's driven to it. But I want him to be skeptical of it and to learn that technology won't solve every problem. And I can't trust that the school that he goes to will be able to find the right balance of technology.

I also spent 12 years doing technical support in colleges, and watched many a student give a presentation that was too much flash and too little content. I believe that flash and flourish can be added later, and I want my child to learn how to do the content first.

Technolgy is just a tool, the other content is far more important in the early ages.
