Community solutions
I realize that it isn't the same as giving someone a computer to take home, but I believe that community-based solutions are a good, partial way to bridge this gap -- especially when they involve the private sector "giving back". I volunteer at the Computer Clubhouse in my current home state of Washington and it does make a difference. If you are interested in volunteering check out www.computerclubhouse.org.
