Teachers with laptops - maybe
I know teachers who have been given laptops purchased with taxpayer dollars and the machine has ended up becoming an additional computer for use by their family. I can see it if courses require it. I can see it if a teacher uses a laptop to track student progress. I can't see giving a teacher a laptop if there is no reason for it but because the money is available thru a local or federal grant and there is no particular mission for that device except to give the teacher a new toy. It is also important to ensure that safe computing class be given to all users of these free laptops.. spam and virus filters, back up your data to the file server on a regular basis.
