Very little need for training with Open Office
I think you can safely go for Open Office all the way. I think that only very little training will be needed. The user interface of Open Office has been designed to pose as small a barrier as possible, to making the switch from Microsoft Office.

Furthermore, it will help promote safe computing. Reduce virus infections and so on.

Some years ago, when I made the same switch, I encountered absolutely no problems. Everything was mostly where I expected it to be. And this has even become more so, in the latest versions of Open Office.

Greeting, Pjotr.
