What about a legal alternative?
Think about this: ship an Intel PC with an EFI Bios, withuot any preinstalled OS. Then let the customers have the option to choose XP, Vista, Linux, or Mac OS X. They would be violating Apple's agreement, but Apple can't easily sue people for this. On the other hand, as far as I understand, the company wouldn't be liable for offering a standard Intel PC with EFI, because there is no Mac product there.

The only exception would be if Apple uses a proprietary EFI, which I'm not sure. The other exception would be if Apple starts using the TPM chip, which as far as I've read, they aren't using yet.

In general, I can't imagine the company is liable for offering a Mac HW Clone. The license is only shown with the software.

The fact that so many people are willing to build their own Hackintosh machines shows that there is definitely a market for this.
