novelty of having the fastest, biggest or coolest looking PC is wearing off as well. Then factor in the years of disappointment with claims from vendors and actual performance as well as the fact that many of the PC's made in the last 5 years, even 7 years really, meet the basic needs hardware wise for these students. The needs for the most part are:
1. E-Mail
2. IM
3. Write papers
4. Surf web for porn! (Kidding, actually for research).
And that's about it. The games are secondary but again the machines out there meet the above needs handily.
