We could easily purchase and ship used XP laptops at a lower price than the OLPC - look at the price on eBay (~$200 and then imagine bulk purchasing).

Condemning the poor to Linux is preventing them from using the global OS and reducing their potential markets for software development and employment to a ridiculously small percentage. If a geek really wants to reject Windows and use *nix instead - fine, but requiring the poor to use it, is just discriminatory.

Using new resources for a toy computer, when you can recycle existing ones is ridiculous.

Restricting the poor's access to applications and games also doesn't make sense.

The problem with crusades is that they end up hurting a lot of people. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
