It seems obvious that this girl had the right to say anything that she wanted in her own space on her own time. The principal of the school also has the right to enforce school rules, regardless of what this girl writes in her space. He should stick to that role. There are lots of ways to make a big mouth pay for her stupidity.

The principal should have just let the girl and her parents know that he was aware of her opinions and that he would still enforce the rules.

I am not even sure that the school has the right to tell young people that they cannot pierce their bodies, get tattoos, take drugs or blow their brains out. The legal system seems to have taken values out of the equation in educating students.

It is very hard to keep any kind of order in schools today because everyone has a lawyer and the schools find it expensive to defend rules that prohibit students from doing anything they want. It appears that the lawyers are running the schools by fear and eliminating all control of students by the staff.

This is just another reason that the schools are turning out uneducated students who are hardly fit to work at Burger King and if they got the job they could not last. There are even rules of conduct, appearance and decorum at fast food places. And those bosses can fire you for anything they want.
