Little/No reward for scientists in it
The trends in Sci/Tech industry are an evidence of the fact that the sci/tech industry has turned into a war-zone filled with deadly intellectual property (IP) "land-mines". Needless to say that while IP provides HUGE incentives (directly) to businesses and lawyers whereas it provides absolutely NO direct incentive to sci/tech professionals. This raises the usefulness of business/law graduates over sci/tech graduates, even in sci/tech industry.

Given the aforementioned propositions (+ the rationality assumption), more students (regardless of their IQ) would choose a career in business/law/humanities over a career in sci/tech, unless they want to become professors or they are really passionate about it.
