iPods
I have been teaching in the area of technology since 1971 and have seen many phases of the technological revolution...and the tremendous impact that they have brought(wrought?).

However...we are at times far too quick to make assumptions. My daughter (Grade 10) does not have an iPod. Sure, she would love one, but Dad is just not going to put out the money right now to satisfy that want. I am also sure that there are many other parents out there that feel the same way and also feel that at times our educational system is placing excessive pressures on families to acquire various technologies.

Again, I am not a luddite...my daughter has a PC equipped with high-speed Internet access, mp3 players, DVD writers, access to a digital camera and camcorder, so she is not deprived. I perhaps have gone on too long to make the point that we need to take time to smell the flowers as we rush along the technological pathway of life.
