Actually, you can uninstall IE in Windows just as easily as any other app.
But they do hide it a little bit.
In XP click Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove programs; this opens the tool we need, but you must choose the icon on the left that reads "Add/Remove Windows Components"; just un-check the IE box, click next, etc. All done. Wasn't too bad, was it?
Now I don't know if there are any evil things lurking on the drive to control your brain or your computer, but IE will be gone enough that you can't use it. You can throw away the Internet Explorer folder from the C drive if you want with no ill effects. Not sure what registry stuff might be left over, but then, who ever is?
