Thats horrifying

I bought a HP Pavilion a1710n a month ago for $640. Vista Home Premium, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, 1024 MB memory, 320GB hd, Nvidia GeForce 6150LE graphics. I stuck 2 more gigs of memory in it a week later, no reason really, a 'just in case' move.

As I've installed programs it's started slowing down on boot and shut down significantly. I blame the programs not Vista. Just out of the box it was breath-takingly fast at everything.

The changes I made are the problem. There are frequently no boxes to check on installations to stop them from starting up with Windows, that really ticks me off and wastes my time going into msconfig so often. Not to even mention the other changes an installation will make w/o my knowledge or permission.

On another sour note, my graphics card needs replacing, Vista scores it low, a 2, and I hate it, I have no idea why HP chose it. Cheaper than another alternative? Yeah, probably.

I've damned MS along with everyone else for a loooong time. But lets share the blame with the software creators too!
