vista slow to start up
I used your information and found the the event viewer and even found the events and problems. But that information served little purpose. I have a brand new Vista desktop. 2 gigs of ram, 320 gig hard drive and a 128mb video card. Since day one it has taken 3 to 6 minutes to start up and shut down. One of the things I found in the event finder - " This process is using to much system memory: iexplore.exe ". If this is the the explorer toolbar, it makes no sense at all. I just got rid of a pc that had 1/2 gig of ram and a 60 gig hard drive. I ran explorer IE7 on ot and it booted in 1 minute. Other Vista programs also seem to be causing problems. File names such as : schedule, plugplay, AudioEndpointBuilder, WinDefend, SysMain, rundll32.exe, just to name a couple. My explorer, BitDefender, windows media center and scores of other programs constantly cause errors and shut down. This is my 3rd Vista PC. The first one I had to take back 2 days later. The second one I returned the next day. I traded it for this one, and then I gave up. I took my new PC to a local PC shop, had them do a few upgrades ( which cost about $600 and voided my warranty ) and now my pc is at least useable. But, as far as vista goes, its just plain wrong to put out a program that has so many flaws. If I sell a product that dosn't work, I get sued and put out of bussiness. 80 percent of the reviews I've read about Vista have been along the same lines as mine. 20 percent were good. That says that the odds of you getting a good working Vista program are about 20 percent. If I developed and sold products and only 20 percent of them worked properly, I'd be shut down. Of course, I wouldn't do that. I have morals.
