I have been very fed up with the entire "tips and tweeks" concept for some time. I went through the registry hack phase with win95-98. XP was all about security hacks and patches. Now vista with a performance problem. Either Microsoft needed to set a hardware spec for manufacturers to build to and say this is what our software needs to work WELL, build computers this way or make people angry. OR, write software that works well across the entire spectrum of hardware configuration. I think the company lacks the leadership to take a stance in either direction.
