Tech Heads
This is about the best comment I've read. I deal with IT departments. There are a lot of techies out there who find it their goal in life to fix what is not broken and ultimately make dysfunctional what they believe was not good enough. All in the spirit of seeing if it could be done. Granted, there is always room for improvement but the hours of waste are staggering.

I've come from the days when I fought the MS flow and swam upstream bound and determined to build a better non MS OS system. Remember DRDOS? May be way to far back for some to have worked with. It beat MSDOS hands down. However, time and money always prevails and MS moved to the top and DRDOS is only a memory. So for those who wish to sit in the glory of old platforms can do so. For those who are trying to figure out what MS is up to it is called riding the cutting edge. It takes fortitude and money. And for those who speak of MS copying from others, it is nothing new under the sun. Virtually all successful operations do it. Very seldom does someone come out with a totally new idea that is not built upon a previous idea. Example: Lunix, Windows, Mac OSX are OS platforms based off a common core principle,. A form of copying.

As for the Home Server debate, it may take off and it may be a cutting edge platform to come. My OS is better than your OS is for newbees and techies just like my dad can beat your dad is for children. It has absolutely no application to reality. Abet the debaters will never get it since they are caught up in their own forest of debate and personal opinion.

The future is integration and connectivity. And I no longer care who succeeds at it as long as it works and continues an upgrade path away from obsolecense He who succeeds with their hand will collect the most chips. The days of platforms which do not talk to each other are setting. New technologies such as Share Point running on top of server platforms is only the tip of the iceberg for end users. Integration and connectivity are the tools end users will buy. They will not care who makes it, or how it is made. They will just want it to work and when it does, they will line up to pay out their cash. Sure there will be the hold outs. Far and few between they will not hold back the flow. Rather they will spend their money to remain in the past again and again while kicking and screaming as they are drug into the future.

Been there and done it when I was younger and had less wisdom. And it was a very expensive and time consuming existence.
