I heard the same lame arguments about XP
But when I allowed WGA to be installed, it forced re-activation when I hadn't changed ANY hardware for a year, and I had to call Microsoft's nice representative (who just barely spoke english) in India (or some far-eastern country), and be cross-examined as a hostile witness + jump thru several more hoops before they would reactivate my computer. I was told by this "gentleman" that even installing "strange" software could trigger reactivation, but he couldn't define "strange software" for me. What he meant was, anything or nothing could trigger reactivation.
Same thing happened about three months later, when I ADDED a second hard drive. Didn't change anything, just ADDED the drive.
If you've had no problems, you're lucky. More power to you, but don't try to blow smoke rings about it to the rest of us.
